Hallo liebe Teddyfreunde,
ich wollte mich auch mal wieder melden. Diesmal bin ich mit Martina eines frühen Morgens an den Frankfurter Flughafen gefahren und habe mich auf den Weg gemacht auf eine Kreuzfahrt "Märchenland aus tausendundeiner Nacht". Zuerst sind wir von Frankfurt über die Alpen nach Nizza geflogen.

I also wanted to call! This time I went to Frankfurt Airport with Martina one early morning - and set off for a cruise called "Fairyland of Arabian Nights". First we started off Frankfurt crossing the Alps to Nice.

Von Nizza ging es mit einer fast einstündigen Busfahrt nach Monte Carlo an den Hafen. Wir mussten noch ein wenig warten - aber von der Wartehalle hatte man einen tollen Ausblick auf die Formel 1-Strecke, Casino und den Königspalast der Grimaldis. Das Schiff musste von den Hafenbehörden erst freigegeben werden.

After landing in Nice we took a bus for a journey of about an hour to Monte Carlo harbor. We had to wait a bit - but looking out of the waiting hall you have a great panoramic view over the Formula-1-course, the casino and the palace of the Grimaldis. The cruise ship had to be released by the port authority.

Kaum auf dem Schiff, musste ich arme Katze gleich drei volle Tage auf See bleiben - bei Seestärke 10 und Windstärke 12. Das war nicht ganz angenehm - und nach draußen wollte ich auch nicht mehr. Aber ein wenig aus dem Fenster schauen (aus der Karibik-Lounge - hört sich das nicht klasse an?) musste ich zwischendurch schon.

Hardly on board, me poor cat had to stay on the high seas for three full days - with sea force 10 and storm force 12. This wasn't that nice - and I definitely wanted to leave the cabin to go outside. But I really had to look out of the windows (because it was in the Caribic-Lounge - doesn't that sound great?).

Vor Port Said in Ägypten wurde endlich das Wetter besser - die See war ruhig, die Sonne schien und man konnte draußen sitzen. Die Pools waren zwar beheizt, aber ich als wasserscheuer Kater habe doch lieber draußen gewartet. Das war übrigens an Weihnachten. Und selbst der Weihnachtsmann hatte seinen Weg auf unser Schiff gefunden.

When addressing Port Said in Egypt, weather finally got better. The sea was quiet, sun was shining and you could sit outside. The pools were heated, but me as hydrophobic tomcat liked waiting outside. By the way: It was Christmas that day! And even Santa Claus found his way to our ship.

Am nächsten Tag hatten wir die Passage des Suez-Kanals. Ich war schon ein wenig erstaunt - da können Schiffe auf Sand fahren! Bis mir Martina erklärt hat, dass wir nur auf einem Nebenkanal in Warteposition waren, um weiterzufahren - während die entgegenkommenden Schiffe den Suez-Kanal durchquert haben und es wegen der Dünen nur so aussah, als würden sie auf Sand fahren.

The next day was the passage of the Suez-canal. I was really astonished - there were ships that were able to navigate on sand! But then Martina told me that we had to wait at a distributary before moving on - meanwhile the oncoming ships crossed the Suez-canal. And it only looked as if they were navigating on sand because of the dunes.

Sharm-el-Sheikh, Ägypten - Fahrt zum nahegelegenen Nationalpark Ras Mohammed mit dem nördlichsten Mangrovenwald der Welt. Dort habe ich eine kurze Rundfahrt mitgemacht, mir das dort mögliche Tauchen aber gespart.

Sharm-el-Sheigh, Egypt - Trip to the nearby national park Ras Mohammed with the northernmost mangrove wood of the world. I take a short roundtrip there but spare out diving.

Aquab, Jordanien (ohne Bild) - Eigentlich wollten wir nach Petra. Das ist die berühmteste Rote-Felsen-Stadt der Nabatäer. Erst hat es aber angefangen zu regnen. Da Petra aber 1800m über dem Meeresspiegel liegt, hat es dort aber geschneit - mitten in der Wüste! Die Busse hatten keine Winterreifen, und deshalb mussten wir mitten auf der Autobahn umdrehen. Macht aber nichts - denn Autobahnen, wie wir sie kennen, gibt es dort nicht.

Aquab, Jordan (without picture) - Actually, we wanted to visit Petra. This is the most famous red-rock-city. First it started raining. But as Petra is 1,800 metres above sea level, it was snowing there - in the middle of the desert! The bus didn't have snow tires, so we had to turn around in the middle of the motor-way. But that's not that bad there - they don't know motorways as we know them.

Nach zwei weiteren Tagen auf See ging es mit dem Bus zum nächsten Landausflug. Mittlerweile waren wir in Jemen angekommen.

After two more days on the sea we went to our next land excursion by bus. Meanwhile we had arrived in Yemen.

Auf dem Weg nach Hajjera haben wir bei unserer Busfahrt eine kleine Pause gemacht, um uns ein wenig die Landschaft außerhalb der Städte anzuschauen.

On our way to Hajjera we made a small break during our bus-tour to have a look at the landscape outside the cities.

Von dort aus fuhren wir weiter nach Aden. Auf dem Foto sieht man mich vor den 2000 Jahre alten Zisternen, die bis in unser Jahrhundert die Wasserversorgung von Aden sicherten. Wir haben uns außerdem die Al-Idroos-Moschee angeschaut, in der man aber nicht fotografieren durfte. Bevor es zurück zum Hafen ging, sind wir noch durch die Altstadt gefahren. Das war übrigens an Silvester.

We went on to Aden from there. On the picture you can see me in front of the 2000-year-old cisterns which secured the water supply of Aden until our century. We had a look at the Al-Idroos-mosque, too - but you weren't allowed to take pictures there. Before driving back to the port, we drove through the old town. By the way: It was New Year's Eve that day.

Nach einem Tag auf See kamen wir in Salalah im Oman an - "ein Hauch Arabien". Auf dem Bild sind wir auf der Fahrt zum Fischerdörfchen Taqa.

After one day on the sea we arrived in Salalah in Oman - "a breethe of Arabia". On the picture you can see me on the way to the small fishing village Taqa.

Der Mann auf dem Bild ist genau wie ich - ok, er ist keine Katze, aber er ist ein Weltreisender. Ich habe ihn auf dem Schiff getroffen, und während ich für knapp drei Wochen auf See sein sollte, reiste er einmal um die Welt. Zu sehen sind wir in den Ruinen von Khor Rori.

This man on the picture is just like me - ok, he isn't a cat, but he is a world traveller. I met him aboard the cruiser. Meanwhile I should be on the sea for about three weeks, he travelled around the whole world. You can see us here in the remains of Khor Rori.

Das ist der antike Weihrauchhafen Samhuram und der Palast von der Königin von Saba. Vor dem ehemaligen Hafen befindet sich eine Lagune, die ihr hier im Hintergrund seht.

This is the ancient olibanum-port of Samhuram and the palace of the queen of Saba. In front of the former port is a lagoon which you can see in the background here.

Hier haben wir auf dem Weg zurück zum Hafen einen Stopp an den Qara Mountains gemacht. Das ist die Quelle, aus der der Sultan sein gesamtes Wasser holt. Die Quelle ist bewacht - man darf nichts ins Wasser werfen und auch nicht ins Wasser steigen.

We made a stop-over while driving back to the port at the Qara Mountains. This is the spring where the sultan gets his whole water from. The spring is watched - you aren't allowed to throw something into the water or to get into it.

Weil ich seekrank wurde, konnte ich mir Muscat im Oman und Fujairah in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten leider nicht anschauen. Dafür war's auf dem Schiff aber umso schöner - es gab das Buffet Magnifique.

Because I was seasick, I unfortunately couldn't visit Muscat in Oman and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. But it was really nice on board, too - we had the Buffet Magnifique.

In Dubai endete meine Kreuzfahrt mit Martina. Dort haben wir zum Abschluss eine Stadtrundfahrt gemacht. Zu sehen bin ich hier vor dem Dubai Creek, aber wir haben auch noch den Gewürz- und Goldzug, das Burj al Arab (eins der berühmtesten Hotels der Welt), Jumeirah Beach und Moschee und die World Trade Centers, eines der größten Geschäftszentren der Stadt.

My cruise with Martina ended in Dubai. Finally, we made a sight-seeing tour there. You can see me here in front of the Dubai Creek, but we have also seen the spice-and-gold-train, the Burj al Arab (one of the most famous hotels of the world), Jumeirah Beach and mosque and the World Trade Centers, one of the largest business centers of the city.

Ich bin dann aber ganz überraschend nicht mit Martina nach Deutschland zurückgeflogen, sondern mit dem Team zurück an Bord gegangen, um sie auf ihrer Weltreise zu begleiten.

All of a sudden, I didn't return to Germany with Martina, but went back on board with the crew to accompany them on their world tour.
