diesmal hat's mich in die Staaten verschlagen!
Der Flug war zwar furchtbar lang, aber es hat sich von Anfang bis Ende gelohnt.
Direkt am Anfang waren wir in der Stadt, die wirklich NIEMALS schläft. Las Vegas!
Es war alles so groß, laut, bunt, verrückt und heiss! Tagsüber bis 43°C und sogar nachts kaum kälter als 30°C.
Auf den Bildern seht ihr das Caesars Palace, das Paris mit dem Triumphbogen, die Wasserspiele vorm Bellagio
und den künstliche Kanale Grande im INNEREN des Venetian! Einfach unglaublich!

This time I travelled the states! The flight was awfully long but it was well worth it.
First we've been to the city that really NEVER sleeps, Las Vegas! Everything was so big, loud, colorful, crazy
and hot! 43°C (107F) Daytime and only just below 30°C (86F) at night.
On the pictures you can see the Caesars Palace Hotel, the Paris, the Water fountains in front of the Bellagio
and the artifical Canale Grande INSIDE the Venetian! Just Amazing!

Von Las Vegas aus sind wir dann durch die Mojave-Wüste gefahren.
Irgendwie komisch, mittem am Tag über Land zu Fahren und beim Überqueren einer Grenze die Uhr umzustellen.
Das haben wir jedenfalls in Utah gemacht, wo wir durch einige Nationalparks gefahren sind.
Ziemlich beeindruckend ist der ZION NATIONAL PARK...wir sind eine ganze Weile durchgefahren.
Naja, ist ja auch fast 58.000 Hektar groß (579km²).
From Las Vegas we've taken the tour right through the Mojave Desert. It feels weird having to wind your watch forward
when crossing a boundary while in a bus. That's what we did in Utah, where we've visited a couple of National Parks.
Zion Canyon for Example is rather impressive, we've been in there for a couple of bus-hours. Well, it's about 579 square kilometers! |

| Nach einem Zwischenstop im Red Canyon
(die beiden Felssäulen auf dem linken Bild über mir heissen übrigens Pepper and Salt)
sind wir dann am noch spektakuläreren Bryce Canyon angekommen. Das war eine Aussicht!
Hier bin ich zusammen mit Barney zu sehen, den ich unterwegs kennengelernt hab.
Der Arme hat ein wenig Höhenangst, deshalb hab ich da ein bisschen auf ihn augepasst. ;)
After a short stop in Red Canyon (those two rock formations on the left picture are called pepper and salt) we went to the even
more spectacular Bryce Canyon! That was one blaze of a view! You can see me with Barney who I met on the road.
He's a bit afraid of heights, so I had to take care of him. ;) |

| Der nächste Nachmittag und übernächste Morgen hat dem Grand Canyon gehört. Ich könnt euch gar nicht
vorstellen, wie winzig man sich vorkommt, wenn man dort runter, auf den Colorado-River schaut.
Den man übrigens nur an einigen Stellen überhaupt sehen kann. Immerhin geht es teilweise über 1500m nach unten
und die Schlucht ist an manchen Stellen 20km breit!
Danach (es war auch ziemlich heiss) haben Barney und ich uns auch erstmal eine grooooße Cola gegönnt. [13]
The next afternoon and morning after that belonged to Grand Canyon. You just can't imagine how tiny I felt when
I looked down to the Colorado River. Actually you can see that only from some places, because the canyon is
more than 5000 feet deep in some places, and partly more than 15 miles wide!
After that Barney and I had a laaaaarge coke. We needed that, and not only because it's been so hot. |

Der Tag war schließlich noch lang und wir sind auch ein ganzes Stück über die berühmte Route 66 gefahren!
It was just the start of a long day and we've taken a part of the tour via the famous Route 66!

Die letzten beiden Tage haben wir dann in Los Angeles verbracht.
Ich war an der Stelle, wo Los Angeles von den Spaniern als kleines Dorf gegründet wurde,
ganz in der Nähe des Instituts für Mexikanische Kulturgeschichte.
Natürlich haben wir uns auch Venice Beach angeschaut, wo Baywatch gedreht wurde!
Der Radweg dort geht übrigens runter bis San Diego und ist insgesamt über 200km lang!
We've spent the last two days in Los Angeles.
I've been to the place where LA has been founded by the Spanish, right beside the institure for mexican culture.
It's been just a small pueblo, a tiny village back then.
Of course, we also went to see Venice Beach, where Baywatch has been filmed!
The cycle track there goes all the way down to San Diego and is more than 130 miles long! |

| Das Santa Monica Pier mit dem Vergnügungspark auf dem Pier selbst, den Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Hollywood
(man sieht die Buchstaben übrigens nur von einer einzigen Stelle in Hollywood selbst),
den Hollywood Bowl (eine Freilichbühne mit Platz für über 37000 Zuschauer) und natürlich vieles andere habe ich mir dort angesehen.
Other than that I've visited Santa Monica Pier with the sort of amusement park on the pier itself, Rodeo Driv in Beverly Hills,
Hollywood (by the way, you can see the letters only from one place in Hollywood itself), Hollywood Bowl (a large open air arena with space for 37.000 Spectators!) and much more! |
